NTCA, WISPA Urge FCC to Consider Entire Internet Ecosystem When Encouraging Border Gateway Protocol Implementation

(July 17) In joint comments filed in response to the FCC’s Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) NPRM, NTCA and WISPA recommended the commission minimize the financial and operational costs of its proposals while also focusing on more effective means of increasing BGP routing security. The associations also pointed to the added burdens placed on Broadband Internet Access Service providers through FCC regulatory actions in the past couple of years and questioned the FCC’s authority to impose the requirements described in the BGP NPRM on broadband providers.
