RTIME Online- Final Day: Annual Business Session, eXcellence Awards and Closing Entertainment by Riley Green

On this final day of RTIME Online, NTCA Board Chairman Fred Johnson welcomed and called to order the Annual Business Session. After the 2020 meeting minutes were unanimously approved, Mr. Johnson started his report by reiterating what he stated at the opening of RTIME Online last week. “The NTCA Board is very much focused on supporting our staff’s work to adapt with virtual alternatives to many meetings that still fall victim to the pandemic.” He continued to stress the commitment of the NTCA Board to the important role NTCA plays in providing the membership with critical federal advocacy and health and retirement plans that secure the financial futures of our employees and help us retain our talented staff. Mr. Johnson concluded his report by highlighting the Smart Rural Community program which to date includes more than 100 companies.

Shirley Bloomfield, NTCA Chief Executive Officer, began her CEO Report by showing a short video tribute to NTCA members and everything they have done over the last year to keep their communities connected and to support working and learning from home. NTCA continues to be very engaged in key policy debates, including those leading up to the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which was passed late last year and included several key NTCA priorities. Shirley closed her report by thanking members for their efforts this past year in support our country as we all faced this terrible pandemic. “Broadband connectivity truly is a lifeline for our communities, and you delivered that lifeline!”

SMC Board Chairwoman Mary Hill then gave the annual SMC Report which was followed by reports from the committees.

Thank you for joining us for RTIME 2021 and we hope to see you all in person at the Fall Conference in September in Nashville, and RTIME 2022 in Dallas!
